WIRE AND TEXTILE YARNS – INTERWEAVING, EMBROIDERY AND KNOTTING.

2021/22

FOR THE 90TH EDITION OF THE PITTI FILATI EVENT, VIMAR1991 HOSTED AN ARTISTIC INSTALLATION – MADE OF ITS LATEST YARN COLLECTION EDEN SS23 – CREATED BY ELHAM M. AGHILI, A YOUNG TEXTILE ARTIST.

HYBRIDS IS A SERIES OF UNIQUE INSTALLATIONS THAT INTRODUCE THE AUDIENCE INTO AN IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENT, ALL MADE OF WOVEN YARNS, WHICH CREATES A FANTASY WORLD BETWEEN THE TAME AND THE WILD. WITHIN THIS SPACE IS FLOURISHING AND BLOSSOMING NEW VARIETIES OF PLANTS, DAUGHTERS OF THE ARTIST’S EVER-CHANGING CREATIVITY.

It is meant to lead us to a precious natural heritage, currently undergoing a metamorphosis – result of experiences and experimentations. As a matter of fact, that sensory bridge brings us to a thrilling adventure in a botanical capsule.  In that space where visionary configurations redefine nature’s genetic code, evolution is moving halfway between reality and fantasy. A true invitation to travel amid earth and ocean, recognizable and abstract forms.

Thereby, the installation perfectly interprets the concept of Vimar1991 Summer collection - EDEN. The Garden of Eden takes a contemporary shape through Elham’s artwork for Pitti Filati exhibition.

The work of Elham M. Ahili translates in the best way the spirit of Vimar 1991 latest collection – EDEN SS23. It deals with magical places, old and modern shelters, in which lush vegetation was predominant. A locus amoenus formed by combining refined touch of colors with sculptures, creating a magical scenery, hybrid and tainted, restoring both body and mental balance.

ELHAM

M. AGHILI

(Sassuolo, 1989)

Is a young textile artist who lives and works in Parma.

She got nominated several times in art competitions and received multiple awards for her work, getting both national and international exposure.

Four years ago, she started studying the links between humankind, nature and space. Her Persian origins brought her very early to the tapestry world where wove strong ties with the botanic iconography.

She chose the yarn as a medium, an artistic voice which involves the creation of detailed surreal natures, transforming a soft and shapeless thing into a physical – strong and present – piece of art.

Her installations both invasive and immersive, are made up of nature-inspired elements and meanwhile very hybrid in their details; that paradox steadily keeps the illusion of a true reality and a fake truth.
